Pietra Ligure
Pietra Ligure
Pietra Ligure, which sits tucked away but not too far, right in the centre of the province of Savona, is the personification of the old saying 'virtue lies in the middle'. In fact, coming to Pietra Ligure means being in a privileged position to experience the entire western Riviera, without having to change accomodation during your whole stay.
Pietra Ligure is full of services, it is well served by the railway, it has the Santa Corona - perhaps the best hospital in the region after San Martino in Genoa, a beautiful sandy beach, a branch campus of the university, and telling it like that, it immediately appears to be more than just a town. Pietra in fact, together with Loano, Borghetto, Borgio Verezzi, not to mention Finale Ligure and its territory just around the corner, are a world apart. A cosmos has the scent of summer all year round, one of the few areas in Liguria where it feels like being, almost... in the sandy adriatic sea!
Pietra Ligure is therefore a less typical, more kaleidoscopic Liguria. It may be that suddenly the ridge of the mountains is just a little further away, but it is true that, as Katerina says, as soon as you arrive in these parts 'you breathe more'. She loves Pietra Ligure above all for that feeling of 'being in Greece' that rarely happens elsewhere in this strip of land that suddenly meets the sea called Liguria. You'll say we're fixated... but that's how it is with us, take it or leave it: Ligurians with emotional roots firmly established even on some beach on the other side of the Mediterranean.
